Here at BuyaBattery we have been involved in local charities for some time now, and this year is no different, as we’ve donated to Manchester’s Mission Christmas campaign. Run by the charity Cash for Kids in collaboration with Hits Radio, Mission Christmas is an appeal to ask people to donate gifts or cash donations for children and young people living in poverty. The aim is to make sure every child in the area has a present to open on Christmas Day.

We have donated £2,000 worth of batteries to help power up those toys and gadgets that have been donated to the appeal, so that children have something ready to play with and use on Christmas Day.

Mission Christmas is the largest toy appeal in the UK. Last year, they collected over £12.7 million in gifts and cash donations. This helped over 250,000 children across the country, including just over 30,000 in Manchester alone.

We just knew we had to be part of Mission Christmas this year and to make sure that any toys had spare batteries to go with them. It’s a brilliant campaign which makes such a huge difference to the lives of young people and children around Christmas time.

The team visited Mission Christmas’ warehouse, which was incredibly inspiring to see how the gifts are sorted and sent out across the region. We felt proud to be playing even just a small part in helping to support the appeal, and we would encourage other local businesses to get involved in any way they can.

We met Hits Radio Cash for Kids Charity Manager, Jessica Rigby, who said “Many of the post popular children’s toys and gadgets require batteries to make them work which is why this donation by Buyabattery.co.uk is such a fantastic added bonus to the appeal. It’s with great thanks that Darren and Teresa came along to our donations hub to deliver the batteries personally.”
