Type of hearing aid batteries

Hearing aid batteries use to be produced using tiny amounts of mercury; this helped conductivity and stabilisation of the internal components. This is no longer the case. The most popular type of hearing aid battery on the market remains the zinc air button battery, despite rechargeable batteries now becoming available. The zinc button batteries have been designed to allow maintained performance and maximum power. Zinc air batteries are air-activated, so your new hearing aid batteries will come covered with a sticker or tab. This makes sure the batteries are as fresh as can be. Make sure you only remove this tab when you’re ready to install the batteries into your hearing aid; this activates the battery. Our range of Rayovac hearing aid batteries will fit in most industry standard hearing aids. They come in packs of 6, so you’ll always have a spare battery when you need it!

Looking after your hearing aid batteries

Please bear in mind, the amount of time your hearing aid batteries will last depends largely on how often you use them, as well as the amplification of your hearing aid. You should store your spare hearing aid batteries at room temperature; anywhere too hot or too cold can affect the battery life. Avoid carrying loose hearing aid batteries in your pocket or purse; if they come into contact with a metal object, they can discharge or even leak.
