As the summer holidays are fast approaching, you may be thinking of the many ways you’re going to have to entertain the kids once they’re back with you full time! Whether you’re jetting off on your well-deserved summer holiday abroad or having a staycation in the UK, you’re going to need some ideas on how to keep your little ones occupied throughout the day. 

The 6 week holidays are notorious for creating bored children and irritated parents, but with a few good ideas up your sleeve you’ll hopefully dodge the usual carnage! Here are a few tips we’ve come up with to help you out.

If there’s one thing that’s going to keep the kids entertained this summer it’s gadgets and toys. Whether you’re jetting off on holiday, or staying at home this summer, a gadget such as a gaming console or iPad is sure to keep them busy for a few hours. 

Depending on which console you have, you could have a family gaming night. Simply make sure your gaming remotes have working batteries and you’ll be able to set up a fun, competitive game that the whole family can get involved with. 

For the younger kids, bringing a toy along on holiday is a must! They’ll need something to keep them occupied on the plane and in those moments where you need some peace and quiet. Make sure to buy some new batteries in the right size for the toy so they have something to focus on during the flight. 

Plan Some Fun Activities 

A great way to keep the kids entertained is by planning some fun activities for them to take part in. Whether you set up some fun games in the garden at home or plan some exciting activities abroad, organising your summer is the best way to keep your kids occupied for longer.

If you’re going abroad on your summer holiday then planning things such as fun days out into the town, or organising some water sports is a great experience for the kids.

If you plan to do this then don’t forget your camera! You’re going to want to be capturing these precious moments so you can look back in years to come. Make sure your camera is charged up with the right batteries before your trip to prepare for this.

Spend Time Together as a Family 

Another way to keep your little ones occupied this summer is to set the time aside to do things as a family. The reason your kids may complain that they’re bored is just because they want your attention, so why not plan an activity to do when you have some free time?

An easy (but very messy) one to do is baking! Simply follow a recipe and make sure you have all the right kitchen equipment on hand, one thing you’ll definitely need is your weighing scales. Make sure you check to see if they have the right batteries first though.
