With the summer holidays in full swing, you may either have a trip booked abroad or in the UK to try and make up for lost time. Despite the ever-changing traffic light system, there are still quite a few countries you can travel to and enjoy a week of relaxation and sight-seeing. With the weather forecast looking promising across England and the rest of Europe, you’ve got a great pick of places from Cornwall to Croatia.

For many, packing your suitcase is either an exciting prospect or a stressful one. There’s often so many things to remember, and it’s important not to forget the essentials. With that in mind, we’ve put together some of the travel essentials that might not have crossed your mind.

Battery chargers

If you’re taking devices like digital cameras, game consoles or children’s toys, you might want to pack a battery charger to be on the safe side. There’s nothing worse than your camera running out of power when you’re out and about, meaning that you miss the perfect opportunity for a family photo. Similarly, you don’t want your children’s games to run flat when you’ve still got a long drive or flight ahead of you.

Make sure you charge up your batteries before setting off, and have a battery charger in your suitcase so you can recharge any batteries throughout your trip. We  have a huge range of battery chargers to suit every size of battery, so you’ll never run out of power again.

Powerbanks

Similarly if you’re taking any USB devices on holiday, including smartphones or tablets, there will come a time when you need to charge your device. However, if you’re not near a mains plug you might struggle!

Our range of portable powerbanks are the perfect USB device chargers, with some being able to recharge your phone up to 8 times. They easily fit into a handbag or even pocket, making them a handy essential to add to your checklist.

Travel adapters

If you need additional plugs or travel adapters for the car and European plugs, it’s definitely worth buying them ahead of time. If you wait until you reach the airport or motorway service station, you might find they are much more expensive.

We have a great collection of travel adapters and chargers that are designed to plug into the car’s cigarette lighter, as well as adapters that are compatible with Europe, USA, Australia and more.

Spare batteries

There’s no harm in taking spare batteries with you, if you’re taking devices that you think might need them. Just make sure you are taking the right ones! Check your current batteries for their size and type, and make sure you only replace like-for-like.

If you do need to put new batteries in your device, it’s usually recommended that you change all the batteries at once, and don’t mix old and new.

It’s important that you check with your airline whether your batteries need to be kept in hand luggage, or if they are allowed in checked baggage.
