Should you use rechargeable or disposable?

This is not to say that disposable alkaline batteries are no longer a good choice. It essentially comes down to how many times you need to change the battery in your device. However, the likes of your TV remote or clock won’t drain your batteries quite so often, so alkaline batteries are perfectly fine to use.
